Emily Wolkenberg

MA CCC-SLP

Emily is a licensed Speech-Language Pathologist in Colorado with a well-rounded professional and educational background, working with a wide variety of populations ranging from toddlers to centurions.

Emily completed her Bachelor's degree in Psychology and English at Indiana University in 2004, followed by eleven years in social work and education as an intervention counselor, case manager, special education teacher, teenage group home supervisor, and independent living coordinator. In 2013, Emily returned to school and earned her Master's Degree in Special Education from Salem State University.

After completing Master's degree in Communication Sciences and Disorders in 2020, Emily began her SLP career during the height of the COVID-19 pandemic. She worked in acute care within Cincinnati hospitals, specializing in patients with swallow, cognitive, and communication disorders secondary to medical conditions including dysphagia, stroke, Parkinson's, traumatic brain injury, tracheostomy, and head and neck cancer. She later transitioned to home-health speech therapy. Her acute care hospital work has been invaluable in the home health sector with people recently returning from hospitalization and rehab.

In June 2023, Emily's family relocated to Colorado, where she has been working in pediatric home health. She works with children with an array of diagnoses focusing on speech and language, articulation, pragmatic/social skills, and clear and effective communication. In 2024, she launched Bluebird Sky Therapy, her private practice serving both adults and children, bringing her unique and varied background to provide comprehensive speech-language pathology services.

As a child, Emily was frequently told "the meaning of life is to live a life of meaning" and finds speech therapy to be her calling. Speech Therapy has tied her background and experience together. She puts her heart into helping people reach their highest potential using evidence-based practices and assists in opening doors that otherwise would remain locked. She provides caring, individualized client-centered treatment plans and speech therapy services.
